Learning Skin Tone for Your Painting

What are the paint colors that best for skin tone? So, here are some pieces of information to make your painting having a great skin tone.

Mixing colors to have a skin tone that you want in your painting, you need is to learn and be more familiarize with the colors.

  • If you think the color is too much dark, you can add the color yellow or white to make it lighter, and if you want to make it darker, you can add the black, chromatic black, or burnt umber.
  • If you like to make it cooler, you can add the color blue, or white if you like to be lighter. And, add yellow or warm red if you need to make the color warmer.
  • If you think that you preferer to make it less or more saturated, you can add the opposite color to make it more neutral.

The skin tone is contained 3 primary colors which are the blue, red, and yellow and the ration of each primary color will depend on darkness and lightness of color of the skin that you are going to paint. Also, the importance is the connectivity of values and colors between each other.

Light Flesh Tones- in making a light Flesh tone you can use the titanium white, cadmium red light, cadmium yellow medium, and burnt sienna.

Medium Flesh tones- in having a medium Flesh Tone, the color that you prefer is cadmium yellow, cadmium yellow medium, yellow ochre, and burnt sienna.

Dark Flesh Tones- in having a dark flesh tone for your painting the color that you prefer is Cadmium red light, burnt sienna, burnt umber, and ultramarine blue.
